Born on 20 June 1982 in Starnberg, Germany, Mara von Heyden is a highly experienced physiotherapist and osteopath with a strong focus on manual therapy, holistic rehabilitation, and psychosomatic osteopathy. She combines evidence-based physiotherapeutic techniques with a deep understanding of the body–mind connection, aiming to restore movement, balance, and overall wellbeing through a “hands-on” therapeutic approach.
Mara began her professional journey in 2000, studying at the Physical Therapy College “Berufliche Schule am Dietrich Bonhoefer Klinikum” in Neubrandenburg, Germany, where she completed her Physiotherapy degree in 2003. Following graduation, she worked for three years in a private physiotherapy practice in Neubrandenburg, treating musculoskeletal and neurological patients and gaining valuable experience in post-surgical rehabilitation and manual therapy.
In 2006, she relocated to Greece, where she has been living and practicing ever since. She is an active member of the Greek Physiotherapy Association (Πανελλήνιος Σύλλογος Φυσικοθεραπευτών) and the Greek Osteopathy Association (Πανελλήνιος Σύλλογος Οστεοπαθητικής). Over the years, Mara has built a solid clinical reputation for her integrative approach to musculoskeletal pain, combining osteopathic, manual, and somatic therapies tailored to each individual’s needs.
Married and mother of three children, she works fluently in German, English, and Greek, providing care to both local and international patients. Her therapeutic philosophy is grounded in the principle that “healing is a process of restoring balance between the body, mind, and spirit.”
Mara’s clinical expertise encompasses a wide range of therapeutic modalities for pain management, postural imbalances, and functional rehabilitation. Her hands-on approach blends osteopathic precision with manual and fascia-based interventions to address not only the physical symptoms but also the underlying psychosomatic patterns.
Her current practice focuses on:
- Chronic musculoskeletal and myofascial pain
- Functional limitations of the spine and pelvis
- Stress-related somatic dysfunctions
- Craniosacral and visceral therapy
- Trauma-informed care and emotional release techniques
- Integrative rehabilitation and wellness coaching
Today, Mara von Heyden integrates her extensive knowledge of manual therapy, osteopathy, and somatic psychology into a unified therapeutic practice. She adopts a trauma-informed and polyvagal-based framework, working gently with the body’s self-regulating mechanisms to release deep physical and emotional restrictions.
Her special interest lies in psychosomatic osteopathy, the polyvagal theory, and the relationship between breath, emotion, and musculoskeletal health. She continuously deepens her understanding of how life experiences shape bodily patterns and how therapeutic touch can facilitate profound transformation.
Her approach reflects both scientific rigour and humanistic empathy, aiming to guide patients toward greater body awareness, resilience, and holistic recovery.
